Drosophila Species Drosophila rubida

Summary

Drosophila rubida is a member of the immigrans species group (hypocausta subgroup) within the Drosophila subgenus.

Drosophila rubida occurs in the rainforests of New Guinea and Australia. In Australia it has been recorded between Iron Range (Queensland) and Townsville (Queensland) along the East coast. Little is known about this species.

The genome of this species is in the process of being sequenced as part of the "Adaptation to climate change research project", which is funded by a Science & Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) Research grant.
