Summary

Drosophila setifemur is a member of the setifemur species group within the Sophophora subgenus.

Drosophila setifemur is endemic to Australia where it is widespread and has been found on the East coast from just east of Melbourne to Queensland. Drosophila setifemuroften frequents urban bushlands and it has been recorded on numerous fruits, flowers and fungi. Little is known about this species.

The genome of this species is in the process of being sequenced as part of the "Adaptation to climate change research project", which is funded by a Science & Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) Research grant.
