Summary

Drosophila repleta is a member of the repleta species group (repleta subgroup) within the Drosophila subgenus.

This species is a cosmopolitan species common in cooler areas and is at least a facultative fungus feeder.

Drosophila repleta has mainly been used to study the phylogeny of the repleta species group.

The genome of this species is in the process of being sequenced as part of the "Adaptation to climate change research project", which is funded by a Science & Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) Research grant.
