Summary

Drosophila pseudotakahashii is a member of the melanogaster species group (takahashii subgroup) within the Sophophora subgenus.

Drosophila pseudotakahashii is endemic to Australian rainforests. It has been recorded between Cairns (Queensland) and Nowra (New South Wales) along the East coast. Little is known about this species.

The genome of this species is in the process of being sequenced as part of the "Adaptation to climate change research project", which is funded by a Science & Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) Research grant.
